Around the World in 4 years

It’s been decided. I’m going to aim for a trip around the world for a few years.

I’ve been wanting to travel since coming home from China. It’s the bug of pseudo-adulthood I imagine. The itch of needing to traverse the world while my physical capabilities still allow me to recover quickly from late-night travels, early morning hikes and broken toes or stubbed fingers. 

The interesting bit perhaps is that this urge in me did not fully encapsulate my soul until I talked to one of my friends about it during a leadership retreat for the organization I work for. As we all made 5-minute introductions about ourselves, one of the openers talked about wanting to travel the world and my heart literally flew through the air and landed on the map. It was all I could do to not talk about my immense passions for travel and learning Asian languages. 

Backpacking! Around the world! And what is this pitiful stuff with only a few days per place? I’m thinking months. I researched for a few idle hours and came up with some horrifyingly mind-numbing sums… but hey, if I’m willing to do it, bring it on! To the next few fascinating years of my life!
